W.I.N. Newsletter Special - 5 Summer Reading Recommendations

Published: Fri, 07/26/13

Now that summer is half over you have either ploughed through all the books you were going to read and are looking for something new, or you are trying to decide what books to take with you on your upcoming holiday. Either way, I have five books recommendations for your summer reading pleasure.

am I that man? How heroes, role models and mentors can shape your life By Brian Willis and Ron Scheidt

I realize I am a little biased here but, we are getting great feedback from men and women around North America about this book, which New York Times #1 Best Selling author calls the right book for America right now. This book is worth the investment of time and money. It could change your life.

I became a big fan of Brad Thor's action thrillers a few years ago. I have been waiting all year for his newest release Hidden Order. Hidden Order was released earlier this month and did not disappoint. A great summer read.

This book is about about escaping average, embracing excellence and striving for awesome. A topic near to my heart.

Even if you are not a UFC fan there are some great lessons in this book on how to become world class in your field. St. Pierre is an amazing athlete, great champion, by all accounts a really nice person and he is a fellow Canadian. Hard to beat that combination.

I have written a number of articles for the law enforcement community about my belief there has not been an original idea for over 100 years. What is original is the interpretation, presentation and application of the ideas and work that is out there. Kleon does a great job of explaining this idea and showing how we can 'steal like an artist' on our path to excellence and awesome.

Let me know how you like these picks and also let me know what else you are reading this summer.

Take care.
