Last week I talked about the myth of work / life balance and suggested it is not about balance, it is about focus and
priorities.
The challenge then is to make sure you are very clear about your priorities in life. How can you be sure what they are? What can you do to get the clarity you need?
Here are four questions to help you clarify the priorities in your
life:
1. If you knew with 100 % certainty that you only had one year left to live, what would you do?
2. If you knew with 100 % certainty that you only had 6 months left to live, what would you
do?
3. If you knew with 100 % certainty that you only had one month left to live, what would you do?
4. If you knew with 100 % certainty that you only
had 24 hours left to live, what would you do?
What would you do? Who would you call? Who would you forgive? Who would you ask forgiveness from? Who would you tell that you love them?
What's Important Now? -
Do those things now. Forgive those people, starting with yourself. Tell those people you love them, starting with yourself. Make those calls.
None of us know when the moment of our death will be. Live your life so when that moment comes you have no regrets because you understood your priorities, focused on them and lived a life
that reflected them. That's What's Important Now?
